Sky+HD Software Issues & Bugs
Software Stability Issues Update - 21/01/2011 (From Sky)

This is an update regarding the progress on software stability issues. These issues include lockups where the box freezes and becomes unresponsive, the appearance of "Searching..." on all events in planner, or events in the anytime menu, and the appearance of an empty planner. As software issues, these are typically resolved by rebooting the box.

We have found through test and code analysis several bugs which we proved can lead to these symptoms, and we have fixes for these bugs in the next version of software, which is currently in staff trial. As speculated on this forum, some of these bugs relate to memory leaks - in particular in clash management, so the strategy many of you have adopted of rebooting the STB daily will help, though we appreciate this is not a solution.
We are currently progressing the next software version towards launch. It has completed formal testing and is now being trialled in homes. We expect to be making the first deployments in mid February assuming that the trial is successful.
As these intermittent issues are difficult to reproduce in a lab, it is therefore hard to be absolutely certain we have eliminated exactly the problems being experienced. We would therefore consider making this software available in advance of full deployment if some customers wish to receive it, and provide their feedback on whether the issues they see are resolved. This feedback would be very helpful to us.
Please indicate here or by private message if you would be interested in receiving this software early. We will also be contacting individuals whose reported symptoms indicate that these issues are the main problem they see.
If you are having particularly frequent stability issues, or you are also experiencing other failures such as freezing during recordings and timeshifted viewing or frequent part or failed recordings then there is likely to be a hardware issue with your set top box or installation. We will also be contacting some individuals who we believe are in this position to work out appropriate solutions.

Sky+HD Bugs
Bug: Fast Forward (SD)
Cannot see any difference between 12x and 30x fast forward at all. On Sky+ the difference was obvious

Bug: Fast Forward (SD and HD)
As an example, fast forwarding from 0 minutes of a programme at 30x speed, the minutes counter showed 2 minutes. Pressing play, and the programme played, but the counter showed 4 minutes for about 5 seconds, and then reverted back to 2 minutes, which was the correct value.

Bug: Playback and TV Listings
After pressing play on a recorded programme, the TV planner text and blue bars disappeared, but the Sky background remained, and in the background you could hear the program being played. But no play logo on screen either..
In TV guide, it just said "searching for listings please wait", and the same if you pressed the red button to list the HD channels..
Fix: Unplug & Reboot

Bug: No TV Listings
Went to main Sky screen, and pressed red for HD channels, then selected an HD channel, pressed TV Guide, pressed red, chose another HD channel, did this about 10 times, but quite quickly, as I was just scanning the HD channels to see what was there.
The box froze on the TV guide with a black screen, for about 20 seconds, and then came back to life, except that i could no longer see any TV listings, just got the "searching for listings please wait"... but of course it never found any.
Fix: Unplug & Reboot
