Both Grundig GDS300 and Panasonic TU-DSB 30 give similar results LNB - Very old (make not known) - can be rotated 360 degrees - useful as skew is crucial. Reception : Normally perfect but very occasionally a blip after 10 pm and ONLY on BBC 1.

We have a house near Exideuil sur Vienne. The dish is old and weather beaten. I found that changing the skew was important in improving the reception. Signal strength and quality both 65%. Excellent reception.

Dish: Zone 2 Sky dish 60cm

I live in Manosque, not far from Aix-en-Provence, and have been using a Panasonic receiver and the larger Sky dish for three years now. We have good reception of BBC, CH4, CH5 etc., etc.  As for most people, if it rains ITV gets a bit iffy but is acceptable most of the time.

Dish elevation set optimally for Hotbird to receive TPS, unchanged to receive Astra2D. Recption 61%, clear view of sky. Picture quality excellent w/o degredation in rain.
LNB and  dish are el-cheapo, and came free with a TPS subscription and Simba 201SA receiver.

Installed the system ourselves without compasses or monitors - just took our time and  jiggled the dish and waited for it to tune in. Have a better signal than at home!! Still receives BBC channels despite the recent changes!

Equipment: 80cm Channel Master dish, 0.8dB Alps LNB, cheap 1st generation Pace Digibox. Signal: Absolutely stacks on 2A, 2B, Eurobird and 2D. No rain fade, except for during heavy tropical storms we seem to get round here! Signal strength and quality are similar to my other setup in the UK (Sky minidish, Pace Sky+ box).

With 1.0m dish, 0.6 db LNB in Toulouse (Southern France), 2d signal is weak, but enough for digital reception with an Echostar receiver. Signal disappears entirely in rain.

I contacted UKSAT and they were very helpful. In fact they said much the same as yourself in regards to the alignment. They also said they install 75cm dishes just about everywhere in France.
Anyway, my French installation man came back for a second go at getting my dish to pick up Astra2D. He actually has BBC1 etc at his home, so he plugged his box into my dish (the 80cm dish I think I mentioned)
and it worked perfectly.
What he then had to do was tinker round with the "configuration" as he called it on my receiving box - this he did by
setting up a new transponder for the right frequency etc for ASTRA 2D, and lo and behold it picked up all the BBC
stations etc perfectly and with no problem.
So this is really to let you know that the 80cm dish seems to be fine here in Toulouse. The receiving box is an FMD brand - sold by the BUT chain of stores here in Toulouse. It is an FMD Free to Air Digital receiver - Ref: ST862D - if that is of any use. I'm not too sure of the other specifications or what is useful to you in you "Reception Report" section.

Valbonne - Cannes Area
Receiver: Grundig Digibox
Dish: 90cm dish
LNB: Samsung 0.6dB

I live outside of the published 2D footprint (if only just!), but I can still receive 2D signals.
I live about 10km inland, north west of Cannes (about 25km west along the coast from Nice). On www.lyngsat.com, it is possible to use the sat locator to set the long/lat to 43.1N,6.9E. That is about where I am.
I have a 90cm dish Samsung 0.6db LNB (bought new - not provided with sky dish/box) old Grundig Digibox.
You need to be quite accurate with the position of the dish and use a sat finder to help home-in on the signal. I have about 80% signal strength and 50-60% signal quality. All BBC and ITV channels are perfect!
