| The Humax Freesat HD Digital Box (FOXSAT-HD) was the first HD receiver launched for the new Freesat satellite service, on 6th May 2008. Offering excellent quality picture and sound on both HD and SD broadcasts, plus a much improved EPG and menu system over its competition; the Humax HD Box almost instantly became a firm favourite with enthusiasts and general consumers alike. | Metronic SATHD100 |
| The Metronic SATHD100 is the first Freesat digital box to be released which isn’t from one of the original manufacturers, Humax and Alba. Agreement was made between Metronic and Freesat soon after the Freesat platform launched, but was unable to launch until after the 6 month exclusive agreement was concluded. |
| The Metronic SATHD100 launched late December. The SATHD100 is the same as the existing Freesat HD digital boxes in all respects, with a single tuner capable of receiving both SD and HD channels. There will also be a non-Freesat mode. |
| The one thing the Metronic SATHD100 has over the existing single tuner HD receivers is the USB functionality, allowing you to play audio and video files, plus view images from an external hard drive device. You cannot however record programmes onto an external device. |

The HDFS Satellite HD Digital Receiver with freesat has been designed for the reception of both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) programming. The freesat specification offers a fully featured Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), interactive ‘Red Button’ services using MHEG-5 and HD programmes from ITV HD.
The HDFS allows multimedia playback of movies, music and pictures from external USB devices, memory cards and Compact Flash or via a networked PC using the Ethernet port. The network connectivity can be extended further with the addition of the TechniSat USB-WLAN Adaptor to provide a wireless solution.
In addition to freesat mode, the HDFS has a TechniSat mode which offers the extended features and functions expected of a TechniSat receiver, such as multi-satellite reception using DiSEqC and motor control. |
