There are two type of Sky+ boxes: the standard one which has 20 hours recording capacity, and Sky+ 160 which has 80 hours.
Sky+ lets you access programmes in the same way as our standard Sky box, but its real advantage lies in its advanced features.
Record directly to your Sky+ box at the touch of a button - no tapes, no timers, no fuss! Record your favourite shows for a time that suits you, auto-record a whole series so you will never miss an episode again. Record two programmes at the same time as you watch a programme you recorded earlier. Pause your favourite programme to take a phone call, or rewind the live match to see that goal again.

Sky HD - High Definition
High Definition (HD) offers picture quality with four times more detail, vibrant colour and incredible depth, the ultimate way to watch your favourite programmes. So how does it work?
Essentially, HD works by using more than four times as many pixels to create a picture compared to normal TV. This gives incredible clarity to images, with edges and lines looking more distinct. HD also uses millions more colours than normal TV, increasing the richness and intensity of everything you watch. And because many HD programmes are made with cinema-style surround sound, you can experience this in full with a compatible surround sound system.
Although it is often talked about in terms of television programmes, the impact of HD has also been felt in the worlds of gaming and home movie-making. Games consoles supporting HD content are now on the market, enhancing gamers' experience with astonishingly lifelike graphics, while HD camcorders like the Sony High Definition HDD Handycam HDR-SR1E are also available for shooting video in high definition.
Sky's HD Receiver
All the functionality available on Sky+ is inside the Sky HD box - pause and rewind live TV, record whole series at the touch of a button and record two programmes at the same time. With remote record, you can even use your mobile phone to set up recordings. Programmes can be recorded in standard definition as well as HD.
The Sky HD box is connected to your HD-ready TV using an HDMI cable (instead of the normal SCART connector). This simple all-in-one connection carries the HD picture and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound together. Remember to check that your TV carries the HD Ready logo.
Immerse yourself in cinema-style surround sound on movies, Barclays Premiership football and more by connecting your Sky HD box to a compatible Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound system.
