My folks have a house in in Spain. They have a 1.3m solid metal (unbranded) offset focus dish with a MTI 0.6dB LNB and a Panasonic DSB30 receiver. With a little adjustment of the skew they now have BBC 1,2,ITV,C4 and C5 24hrs (using a FTV card). Before swapping the LNB the receiver (originally using a Grundig GDS310) had difficulty getting ITV (pre the beeb changeover to 2D) and to get ITV/C4 consistently all that was required was skew adjustment. Others in the area are getting similar results from 1.2m dishes (unsure of LNBs/receivers).

My dish size is 60 cm and it's situated at 2 meters from the roof of my flat. My receiver is a NOKIA 150S Mediamaster. At that moment I can see: BBC Parliament, BBC1 Wales, BBC1 West, BBC1 East, BBC1 South, BBC1 Scotland, BBC2 Scotland... My receiver finds BBC four, but I can only see the subtitles of the programme but not the image. My mother who lives in Esplugues, a small town near Barcelona, has the same dish and she can see: BBC Parliament, BBC1 London, BBC2 England, BBC news 24 hours, BBCtes3, CBeebies, BBC1 NI, BBCTes2 (encrypted), BBC Four (some times free), BBC three (some times free), BBC1 north west, BBC1 EYKS&L, BBC1 York, BBC1 East Mids, BBC1 East E, BBC1 Wales, BBC2 W, BBC1 Scotland, BBC2 Scotland, BBC2 NI, BBC1 West, BBC1 S. East, BBC1 South, BBC1 South West, BBC1 NE& Channel Islands, don't understand why I can't see the same as she can.
Some of the channels have the same programmes at the same time but I'm specially interested in having BBC3 and BBC4.

Perfect 24 hour reception on all channels with both receivers. The 1.1 Triax is easily carried on bike rack. Skew angle is critical and needs adjusting slowly clockwise until maximum signal achieved. No need to reset transponder, works fine on UK settings. The secret is levelling tripod and taking time to get maximum signal strength. BBC London is stronger than the regional settings especially at night and bad weather.

Hi, Just to try and help you out with the footprint issue, I am in Tenerife and believe or not even though we are 1500 miles further away than the footprint suggests we can get all the horizontal channels of 2D with a Channel Master 2.4m dish, With all makes of boxes but for channel 4 and Sky 1 mix (We cant get Sky 1) you need either a Panasonic 30, Sony 760, Grundig /2 or the very new pace box (which is the best out of all boxes). We can get ITV on a 1.8 m dish with a good box but only in the afternoon.
We cant get ITV 2 at all and have even tested it on a 4m dish (but we don't know if that dish was any better than a channel master 2.4m).

You can get BBC 1 - 4, C4, ITV etc in Tenerife ( Spain ) with a 2.4 m Dish.....still perfect even thought BBC has moved to Astra 2D.... Whether Astra Turn the power of the beam down who knows.. but I am 2500 miles from England and it still works 14/06/03.
The Dish is 2.4m Channel Master, which I was told was the best dish to have for being so far down, other 2.4 dishes don't work I have been told whether that's true I have no idea, all the 2.4 Dishes I see here are Channel Master) a universal LNB cost about 120 Quid ( which is a multi output type) I don't know the make and model( I am going to try a horn LNB to see if it improves the signal strength ( I have been told a horn Lnb increases the Dish foot print ), Ch4 seem to be a problem when there is high sun activity about 6pm for a few hours ( blocking and pixelating) but the dishes was moved to install the multi output Lnb
so maybe it need a tweak or too. But apart from that the Picture and sound quality are great.
My receiver is a Panasonic DSB40 the latest model ( which I bought new off the website for 200 quid and 30 quid delivery). I also have a Panasonic 31 / 35 I think which both work too. You can also use a 1.0m dish to get normal Sky / CH5 ( not BBC or ITV or Ch4 or sky Film channels and a few other channels) You also get Sky sports and most of the sky packages (MTV, news channels, Scfi, Bravo, etc) including Sky1 which has just seemed to have arrived now I have changed to 12.050 V Transponder.

I am sending this info in case it is of any help to you, or anyone who logs on to your site.I live in Tenerife and have until recently had no problem in picking up BBC and ITV. I have a Channel Master 2.4m elliptical dish, a Phillips twin SC519DS LNB (0.7db), an Amstrad DRX100 and a Sony VTX S760U receiver. I still get ITV 1, and all the other previously available channels, without any problems but my BBC picture can get very pixellated, especially at night. During the day it is watch able with the occasional interruption in quality. This problem is more exaggerated on the Sony receiver as the box is not as good as the Amstrad for use over here.

Thought I'd let you know that here in Ibiza I receive the BBC & ITV all day until about 21.00 (ITV until about 21.30 though I can extend this for half an hour or more switching to ITV Scotland via "other channels") then signal breaks up until 02.30/03.00 in the morning. In the winter months I have been receiving ITV 24 hours a day & hope the same will apply to BBC via Astra 2D. I am still experimenting with the LNB "skew". If I can improve on my signal I will let you know.

Having just changed my LNB to a Syntec from an Invacom the change is minimal.
But after a few hours on the roof getting the tilt of the dish spot on and the LNB scew right, i'm quite pleased.
Measuring the signal strength and quality with the ID-Digital reciever, i am getting 50 to 57 percent quality and 45 to 50 percent strength on BBC1 Channel Islands and slightly less with ITV Channel Islands. With the exception of losing them both for 2 hours mid morning, they are viewable all day and night. Of course if it starts to rain anything more than a slight shower i lose them both completly.
Although Channel four measures considerably less quality and strength, i recieve it 24/7 and it can last out a pretty heavy shower of rain. Channel 5 is by far the best with 60 to 70 percent quality and 50 to 60 strength.
I can recieve channels on 10773/H/22/5-6 only for a few hours early on a morning and late afternoon and for 1 hour around 11pm.
The tuners capabilities in both boxes seem to be identical, but my other box, Pace 2200 struggles with anything from 2D. I rarely recieve Channels 558,559,157,458 and 999, but as i don't subscribe I am not bothered.
I know of someone else in the area who has the same setup as myself with a 1.3 dish and a shorter cable run, but gets the same signals as me.
As there are not many ex-pats living in this neck of the woods, the installers havn't a clue as we were told we needed dish sizes of only 80cm for 2D right up to 2.4m. which is ridiculous cos i rekon if i had a 1.5m offset i would recieve all channels 24/7 perfectly.

I have a 1.2m dish, 0.2db LNB and a Panasonic DSB30 Receiver. I can get the ITV regional and ITV2 channels but now there is no Beeb. We are going crazy! I live in Madrid in Spain and have spent most evenings on the roof now. As I wrote on your chat board, I pay my TV licence in the UK withoutt fail and now the BBC have pulled my plug. Not Happy. I know the two are not related, but it seemed fair before. As for keeping my Sky Subscription going, I am not sure anymore, it was only there for the Beeb.

With the 1.35
All vertical transponders with clear reception 24/7. Horizontal transponders clear reception from early morning to 13.00 approx. Reception intermittent on from then on but never any picture after 19.00 approx. Reception patterns the same regardless of box make and model and have tried with various LNB's. With the 1.35 I tried a Sony 760, Pace 2500, Pace 2600, Amstrad 100, 200, Panasonic 30, 31 all with pretty much the same story. If the signal isn't there, no box is going to pick it up.
With the 1.8 Prodelin (and LNB adaptor) with Sharp 0.4 40mm LNB
Reception of Horizontal transponders solid until 21.00-22.00 approx. Will try the 1.8 Prodelin with MTI C120 Flange and report back.

You have asked for feedback on BBC reception. I live in Menorca, Spain where many people have just lost BBC reception and I believe these people have smaller dishes. I am using a 1.2m dish and have perfect reception and I experience no difference whatsoever since the change to 2D. I use a Sharp BS1R5EL200A LNB which does not appear from the spec to be particularly good, possibly 0.6-0.8db. I feed two receivers, a Grundig GDS200 and a Panasonic TUDSB-30. The Grundig shows 100% signal strength and 85% quality while the Panasonic has 75% strength and 95% quality. There is however a longer cable run to the Panasonic. I bought the dish and LNB as a package for 90 euros 1 year ago. Now on this island, installers are quoting 350 euros for the dish only and some are saying that they will only install 1.6m dishes which is unnecessary and impractical in most accommodation.

My parents live in Marbella, Costa Del Sol in Spain and have no problem receiving ITV channels (all regions through the services menu). They've got a Panasonic TU-DSB 30 receiver, 1.2 m Channel Master offset dish (10 years old at least), Universal LNB - not sure of make.
Although lots of their friends recently lost BBC channels, my parents are still receiving the pretty much the whole range of channels from Sky Digital, including all BBC channels. The kids channel Boomerang is one of the channels unavailable and Sky 1 is dodgy. Channel 4 and E4 disappear during heavy rain.

In normal weather 2D is there with no problems, signal strength and quality are both in the 65-80 region and lock indicator is not locked, (Not quite sure why this is!). In medium rain, cloud and wind things are still fine, no loss of picture and sound. In heavy rain and wind there is some blocking, but that also happens on non 2d channels.
